Bonfire Night: Tradition and the Magic of Belonging at BSQ

As the sun set over the BSQ campus on November 15th, our community gathered for one of the most beloved and historic British traditions at The British School Quito: Bonfire Night.

Year after year, this event brings together students, families, and staff to celebrate our British heritage, honouring a tradition that dates back centuries, while embracing the warmth, joy, and vibrant spirit of our Ecuadorian context.

This year’s Bonfire Night was particularly special. The evening began with a heartwarming Talent Show, where students of all ages stepped onto the stage with confidence and creativity, showcasing music, dance, art, and performances that celebrated their individuality and courage. It was a true reminder that every child at BSQ has a voice and a story worth sharing. That each one of them matters.

As families gathered around the bonfire, enjoying the glow of the flames and the excitement in the air, the atmosphere was filled with connection and togetherness. Children played with friends, parents shared stories, and the entire community came together to celebrate what makes BSQ more than a school: a place where every person matters. The evening reached its peak with our traditional fireworks display, lighting up the night sky and illuminating the smiles, laughter, and shared memories of our families.

Bonfire Night once again reminded us why this event stands at the heart of our school culture. It represents the union of tradition and belonging, a moment where our British roots meet the warmth of our BSQ community.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the families who joined us, to the students who bravely took the stage, and to the staff who worked tirelessly to make the evening unforgettable. Your presence and energy made this Bonfire Night one to remember.

We look forward to many more celebrations together, moments that strengthen our community, honour our heritage, and become part of the memories that define our BSQ family.
