The school was created under a bilateral agreement signed on 9 June 1995 by the Government of the Republic of Ecuador and Her Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom
This agreement established the British School with the Foreign Ministry of Ecuador, within the framework of a broader cultural agreement between the two countries.
The school is a registered foundation whose sole purpose is educational. We are a British curriculum school of international quality, preparing students aged 3 - 18 for university entrance. Our programmes of study are based on the English National Curriculum, with the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (iGCSE) in Years 10-11, and the International Baccalaureate (IBO) Diploma programmes in Years 12–13.

Students Achieve Top Marks in IB and IGCSE Results
Following the outstanding British School Quito IB results in July, we are delighted and proud to announce equally excellent outcomes for our Year 11 IGCSE cohort for 2021. Despite the challenges faced by these students during lockdown, they have secured both personal successes and collective triumph and we are all very proud of them.
