On Thursday 13th and Friday 14th of March, the British School Quito proudly hosted its much-anticipated IB and IGCSE Visual Arts Exhibition. More than just a display of artwork, the event served as a powerful reflection of our students' creative journeys, personal growth, and dedication over the past two years.

The exhibition featured impressive works from both our IB and IGCSE students. Year 13 students, Mia Cowtan and María Victoria Dávila, captivated visitors with deeply personal and thought-provoking pieces. Their art explored profound themes such as the transition from childhood to womanhood, family heritage, and the ongoing challenges women face in breaking free from societal stereotypes. Each piece invited viewers to reflect on these important issues, leaving a lasting emotional impact.

Our talented Year 11 IGCSE students took inspiration from the theme Time and Space, creating works that captured the transient beauty of life, the changing rhythms of nature, and the enduring marks left by humanity. Through their art, they demonstrated not only technical skill but also a mature understanding of the world around them.

Guided tours throughout the exhibition allowed visitors to engage directly with the artists, providing a deeper insight into the creative processes, stories, and emotions behind each piece. The connection between artist and audience was palpable, fostering an environment of appreciation and dialogue.

The exhibition’s opening night was a truly magical occasion. Accompanied by music and the soft glow of lights, the school community came together—families, teachers, and friends alike—to celebrate the hard work, talent, and passion of our young artists. It was a night filled with pride, creativity, and inspiration.

At BSQ, we are committed to nurturing not only academic excellence but also the creative and personal development of every student. This exhibition was a shining example of what can be achieved when students are encouraged to express themselves and explore their individuality.

Congratulations to all of our participating students for their incredible effort and artistic vision!
